Cookie Rescue + Dog Bath

It's the end of my day off, and once again I find myself wondering "where did my day just go?" Here are a few notes...

- I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and on the way back I stopped to get some pick-me-up treats. I also decided to be generous and get some treats for Eva. I used the self-checkout, and after the machine insisted "UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA" while I juggled a Starbucks in one hand and my credit card in the other, I stepped out into the sunshine and drove home... only to feed Eva her peanut-butter star biscuits and realize that I left my own paid-for cookies in the bagging area. Luckily I have a fabulous mom who was out and rescued my Newman-brand faux-oreos for me. There is a reason why Mr. E calls me his "clumsy cat."

- Eva was stinky. So she got a bath. She was okay with the water, but at the sight of the blowdryer she hid behind the drying rack and started growling.

- As I type this I'm listening to a super-sappy mix on 8tracks. It's kind of like eating that candy you usually don't go for (ahem liquorice ahem) and then deciding that maybe just maybe in small doses it's not so bad after all. (Ok I confess: Taylor Swift's "22" will be stuck in my head for the next 24 hours).

- Awkward: there is a teenage barista at a coffee spot I frequent who has a crush on me. More awkward: I think he thinks I'm a teenager too.

So now I'm going to go eat my faux-oreos, read Kate Chopin with a face mask on and partake in other serious, grown-up activities.
