Favorite: REN Hydra-Calm Day Cream

February 21, 2013

A very wise person once gave me this advice regarding my skincare routine: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." In other words, if your skincare is working just fine, don't fuss with it. But sometimes I just can't resist the temptation of a new product. I decided to go on a hunt for a new daytime moisturizer, and after trying two products that irritated my sensitive skin, I finally discovered a new favorite: REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream

The noteworthy ingredients include Omega 3 and 7 from Arctic Blackcurrant Seed and Arctic Seabuckthorn Berry Oil, Bisabolol from chamomile, and antioxidants derived from a variety of plant sources. It provides the perfect lightweight layer of moisture without leaving my combination skin greasy or shiny. Not to be over-the-top in my praise, but this stuff feels a little magic: it leaves my skin looking so healthy that I've been going bare-faced more often! It also works well as a silky-smooth base under makeup.

I've been trying to include more natural products in my beauty regime, but I find that often products marketed as "natural" aren't as natural as they could be (synthetic fragrance is one of the main offenders). Ren Hydra-Calm Day Cream is more natural than many skincare products on the market; it does not contain parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance etc. (see image above). It does have a subtle herbal fragrance from the natural ingredients, but it does not linger on the skin. It comes in hygienic packaging with a pump dispenser. And as it's formulated for sensitive skin like mine, it does not break me out.

I can see REN Hydra-Calm Day Cream becoming a staple in my skincare routine, the product I reach for because I know it will leave my skin happy. I might even listen to that "if it ain't broke" advice and stick with this for a looong time...

  5. I love REN! It works so well with my skin, this cream is a definite favourite. I'm not sure how expensive it is in the UK, but sadly in Australia it's quite pricey so I can only buy it when I've got a bit spare. It's so good though!
