Simple Beauty Juice

February 22, 2013

I've been going green at breakfast time, and this little cocktail is one of my favorites!  The recipe comes from the February issue of Real Simple (one of my guilty pleasure reads, stolen from my mother's stash of magazines). With only four ingredients, it's simple, pure and surprisingly sweet. It also helps sustain the illusion that I'm in a tropical paradise when in fact it's freezing and windy outside. As I'm sure you've heard countless times, raw juice is associated with a variety of health and beauty benefits: it can brighten complexion, stave off cravings, assist in weight loss and help your body perform at its best. This juice is great on its own as a quick and light breakfast, and as I discovered this morning, it's also the perfect complement to toast with PB&J! To make two servings of this smoothie, all you need is a blender and:

2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
2 cups of spinach
1 1/2 cups of frozen mango
1 cup of green grapes
1/2 cup water

Blend together and drink to your health! PS: I'm looking for new juice recipes to try, so if you know of any stellar combinations, please let me know!

  3. My favorite green smoothie is spinach, frozen banana, unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a teaspoon of EVOO! So good, it's the perfect breakfast.

  4. yumm! that looks a lot like my smoothie every morning. minus grapes and add pineapple. I have been on a roll with smoothie recipes! I did one called Peanut Butter and Jelly: {spinach, strawberries, raspberries, flax, vanilla, honey, some PB, and some greek yogurt. + h20) it was pretty good! I also did one called Cherries and Chocolate (flax, greek yogurt, spinach, cherries, cocoa powder, and some pineapple for xtra sweetness. + h20) I did one called Banana Split and a Tropical one with coconut and kiwi and all of those tropical fruit! I did a blog post about the last 2 if you wanna check them out. i add spinach to all of my smoothies. a fool proof way to get your greens in because you cant taste it what so ever.

  10. I'm gonna try it without spinach. I know it is good for our health but I don't like it.

  11. This sounds great! I've added spinach to smoothies before and I love how it adds so many health benefits without interfering with the fruity taste too much. Thanks for sharing! :)

  17. The lime juice doesn't make it too sour? I really want to try your recipe this week.. I have a juice every morning.. Mine is 1 banana, handful of spinach, and frozen mango cubes with blueberries..and water of course... And when I'm really adventurous I do, 1 banana, 1 beet, 1 celery stalk, and strawberries.
