Wantable is a luxury beauty box. If you're a subscriber, each box costs $36; otherwise, a single box costs $40. Each box includes 4-5 full-size beauty products collectively worth far more than the box costs - the contents of my box came to a whopping $94. Obviously, you don't want to be stuck with a full-size product you don't like, so when you order the box, you take a short survey about your makeup preferences (what items do you wear regularly? what colors do you like to wear? what finish do you like your foundation/eyeshadow/blush?). Your box is then customized based on your preferences; you'll never receive something you say you'd never wear. And if you're dissatisfied with your box, you can return it for a full refund.
As for the contents of my beauty box, I expressed my love for the classic look when I took the survey. The team at Wantable responded accordingly with offerings from brands I've never had the opportunity to try.
BE A BOMBSHELL MASCARA IN "ONYX" ($15)
Featuring a wand with natural bristles, this mascara applies very smoothly, adds volume without clumping and does. not. budge. If you're in need of a heavy-duty waterproof mascara, this will do the trick.
BE A BOMBSHELL EYESHADOW IN "BIRTHDAY SUIT" ($14)
I admit, flesh-toned, matte eyeshadows tend to inspire a "why-bother" attitude. But then I give them a try and understand their appeal, especially as a base for other eyeshadows when you're trying to look extra put-together. This eyeshadow is a pretty perfect match for my skin tone, and when I dust it over my lids it conceals any darkness and makes me look a little more awake. Which is never a bad thing.
JAPONESQUE ANGLED FOUNDATION BRUSH ($25)
I've spent most of my makeup-wearing years wondering why I'd ever apply foundation with a brush. Most foundation brushes I've tried make foundation look streaky, and the foundation tends to cling to the brush rather than my skin. But this Japonesque brush makes my skin look flawless. The dense bristles buff foundation in without leaving streaks, and the angled shape ensures that the foundation spreads evenly around every contour. Love.
MANNA KADAR BLUSH IN "CHEEKY" (
This blush is a universally-flattering pink that packs a punch. It's even more pigmented than my tarte blush; for a rosy glow, all you need to do is lightly touch the blush and tap off any excess powder before blending it on. After using blusher/bronzer products for most of the summer, I'm excited to have a new true-pink blush in my makeup bag.
MANNA KADAR LIPSTICK IN "RUSSIAN" ($21)
This blue-red lipstick has the exact same vanilla scent as a MAC lipstick. It's creamy and comfortable to wear, though it does tend to smudge if you're not careful. It's got nothing on YSL, so no, the quest for the perfect red is not (ever) over, but it will come in handy for the holidays.
When I shop for makeup, I tend to stick to the same brands, so this box was a great way to discover brands I'd never think to purchase myself. The Japonesque foundation brush is by far my favorite item, but the others are things I'll use and enjoy. If you're stuck in a makeup rut or looking for a gift for a beauty lover, I definitely recommend checking out Wantable. This month, Wantable offers a makeup box as well as boxes for lingerie, accessories and Halloween!
